Unhappy Rust spot

Hi all,

Haven't been back to the forum for a while and I wish everyone well!!

I just notice a rust spot and a rust strip on the edge of the roof where it in contact with the rubber of the sunroof... at first I thought it can be polished. After I used some thick wax to buff it but it is still exist. I even to the point of start polishing off the rush spot itself with the sounding paint but the rust still existing... I wonder whether I need to get a body shop to do the polish and repaint the who dawn roof?

The roof had been painted 4 years ago when the roof got slammed by the garage door in one of the condo building.... and even since, I guess the layer of the paint is too thin from the re-paint, and the aome part of the paint along the back end of the edge got scratched by dust or sand that stuck on the sunroof rubber during any moments to the sunroof. Does this happen to you all regardless whether you have the original paint or not? Please correct me if I am wrong, but if the out layer of the paint start getting rust, we shall see bubble start popping out from the paint surrounding the rust sport... isn't it? As I see no paint bubble. I will take my TSX to the guy who did the re-paint 4 years ago to have a look, but just want to have a 2nd opinions from you all. Thanks for any opinions in advance!!

yes.

body shop will probably have to dig rust out, sand it down, bondo the spot and re-spray...

I had taken it to my mechanic... he said it seems to be some rust stain from a minor scratch.. has not gone in depth... just to cover it with touch up paint and shall be fine... I just took his work and cover it up with a couple layer paint and that is it.....

you do understand what rust is right? you can't just cover it up. covering it up is the worst thing you can do because you can't see the damage its doing to the metal underneath your "layers" of paint.

without a picture tho, its hard to say... but then again, its your car; you have to live with the consequences...
