Engine Computer replaced at 8600 miles

Just FYI,

Sunday afternoon, I stopped at a coffee shop to get a cup of coffee. Once I got back to my car and started it up, my check engine light came on and stayed lit along with a continuously flashing immobilizer light. Everything seemed right. The car was idling fine, the AC was working, all the guages were OK, the temperature was fine, nothing seemed wrong. I drove the car home (about 3 miles) and paid extreme attention to how it was running. I couldn't feel anything wrong with the car. Monday morning, I called my service center and made a reservation for a loaner vehicle and dropped my car off with them. According to the invoice (It was covered under warranty), "engine failed PCM diagnostic. New ECU ordered and installed". It took two days for the new ECU to come in and I got my car back Wednesday night right before they closed. They said there was nothing wrong with the engine or the car, it was just the ECU that failed. Anyhow, I thought this might be useful for somebody out there. I don't know what caused it and, apparently, they weren't able to find out what caused it either. If it weren't for how well my service center treats me, I would be pretty unhappy with this vehicle. It spends more time in the shop than any new car I've ever had. I'm relocating and will be driving about 24k miles a year to and from work and am beginning to wonder if I should get rid of this car for something a little more reliable before I move. Hopefully this was a freak event and I won't have any more problems. The rattles are still killing me though!

By the way, I found the cause of a rattle by my ear on the driver's side. It's the seat belt height adjustment mechanism. I haven't decided how to dampen it but, at least I know what to dampen now!

Thanks for reading my rambling. I'll keep you guys posted if there's anything else I find out about rattles, problems, etc.

Hmmm...first post I've seen related to a bad ECU. Hope its not the first of many Also glad to see how Acura handled your situation. Very quick and professional, the way I would expect all Acura service to be.
