Removing front seats

A general question, but I can't find the answer anywhere..

Can you remove the front seats (unclipping any harness attached to the seats)and re-plug then back in without any airbag lights coming popping up?

Hey Sam, I have the Helm's manual at my place, if you want to see it.

But I think the answer is "yes, you can" without having the dummy lights come on.

As long as the key is "off" you can unplug the seats/airbags with no codes stored. If you turn the key "on" with them unplugged, you will kick an SRS code.

Safest best is just to disconnect the battery.

I removed the pass. seat once, don't ask me why, and drove around like that for a few days.

The SRS light was on the whole time, but as soon as I reinstalled the seat, all was fine.

I talked to a mechanic friend and he said usually you can take out the drivers seat, but the passenger seats on newer cars have a weight detection which triggers the air bag by lbs on the seat. As soon as you disconnect that seat, it needs to be recalibrated for the weight by the dealership/garage and if not, the airbag light will stay on.

Anyways, long story short, my stupid ass seat is shifting again after I had it fixed by the dealership, so I'm going to see if it's something that I can fix this time around, once and for all...

ELSpool. I'm having the same prob and had it "Fixed" several times. I pretty much give up. I want to replace them with aftermarket seats but the whole thing about disabling ALL the airbags kindof sucks and takes a lot of the safety value from the car that i like.
