Rear Defroster Causes Radio Static

I'm driving in my TSX today with the radio on, hit the rear defroster button and the radio goes to almost complete static. No problem with the CD player with the defroster on. Anyone experience this problem? I had the radio replaced for the 'lights go out' problem, and haven't had any radio related problems since.

Thanks
-nox

I don't have the same problem that you do, but I find the FM reception really poor on my 2006 TSX. FM signal keeps going on and off causing lots of static noise. I have a TL and an Honda Accord; both with excellent reception under the same conditions.

Had the dealer check it out. He thinks this is normal.

yeah I get the same thing. The radio antenna is in the rear window so the defroster causes interference.

It's pretty frustrating but I've learned to live with it. Change the station, not every channel is affected

I have the same problem, but I may have a solution for you.
I mentioned this problem to my dealer and, as usual, they told me the standard answer: Sir, it is the first time me hear from this, but let me think, ...yes, I think I saw this one day...
To that I asked: what would you do if this happens ?
They answered: we would use an antenna amplifier module.
This may be available to Radio-Shack, but I did not check.

If someone finds this type of signal amplifier, please tell me.

Regards.

Thanks for the coments. I never used to have a problem until with reception until the recently. I want to figure out if it's the radio or possibly a short in the defroster. I'm trying to decide if it's worth spending $100 to have dealer diagnose it and tell me I need a $700 radio or a $20 connection. I would learn to live with it if it's the radio.

Break in rear window defroster causes radio interference

I took my '06 TSX to the dealer because I had interference on weaker FM stations when I turned on the rear window defroster. First they replaced the AM/FM Antenna/defrost module in the C pillar. When I picked it up it still had the interference. They were embarrassed and in a couple more days with the car concluded there was a hairline break in the rear window defroster. The replaced the rear window under warranty and the problem is now fixed. They had the car a week and gave me a loaner ('08 TL).

If it wasn't under warranty I probably would have just repaired the crack in the heater with metallic paint.
