Rattling from Springs

I had eibach pro-kit springs installed a week ago and had the alignment done today. I seem to have a rattling nose coming from the rear springs. It seems like it happens when I hit a dip in the road and the spring would be extended. Is it just because of the difference in spring height or could it be a serious problem? I checked the upper bolts and they are on tight, the lower bolts were screwed in with an impact gun so I don't think they'll be lose. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

If you know for sure it's the springs I'd have someone else look at it. Make sure that all of the other stuff that got touched during the install is also tight.

I installed my prokit last week and have no noises coming from mine. Are you springs seated correctly in the strut?

I think they are? It's actually really weird because I get no noises when I hit large bumps. I double checked to make sure that everything is on tight and I get no movement in the struts or springs when I tug on them a bit.

Well, I took the back seat out just to triple check everything and after I got it out, I pushed down on the car to look for any sounds. It seems that the sound may not be coming from the springs but from somewhere else. I guess I'll have to look into it more.

Would the springs being in upside down cause it?

it be pretty hard to put them in upside down, make sure the lettering is rightside up and I believe the plastic wrapping the spring is at the top.

Nope, they're in upside down. I guess we just weren't paying attention to the lettering.

Don't I feel like a dumbass

Well....I re-did the springs and put them in right this time. But...the rattling is still there. I talked to a buddy of mine and he said he had eibach springs once and had the same problem, but never could figure out why they rattled. Oh well, maybe some dynamat around the area will conceal the sound.

Yeah, I got an alignment about a week ago. Oh well, looks like I'll just have to search the web to see if anybody has come up with a solution. Maybe I'll call eibach and see if they can give any advice.

strangely enough this just started happening to me. i installed them originally w/ my comptech sway bar and didn't have any problems, but i just went back to the stock one and i'm getting some serious noise. my guess is b/c the OEM flexes so much, its allowing the rear springs to extend farther

Xizor, I just posted in Triz08's post and said that I had the noise until I put the comptech rear-sway bar on. Weird

did you install the springs yourself? i'm wondering it not compressing the rear springs when they're put on makes a difference.

Pro-kit does 1.4 front / 1.6 rear or the other way around, I forget.

just put my new sway bar on and 99.9% of the rattling went away. I heard 1 quiet pop in a 10minute drive. I'm going to take apart my shock/spring this weekend to see if I can get to the root of the problem, the spring seems to be sitting in the perches just fine. I swear the sound is coming from the top of the shock where its mounted but its bolted on tight. jtso suggested the top bushing could be causing noise so I'm going to look into it. but AFAIK its a non-problem once I got my sway bar back on.

Well i just went under the car and decided to check all the bolts. I found that you have to use an allen key in the sway bar bolt to tighten it completely. After tightening that and 1 or 2 other bolts, the problem seemed to be completely fixed!
So try it out and see what happens
