Radio problem - not picking frequencey - no sound

Hello -

I have a '04 Acura TSX. I recently noticed that the radio isn't giving any sound when I tune into a station. Tried different stations it's the same. My cd palyer seems to be working fine, I can listen to the songs.

When I try to scan the channels on radio, it's not picking any frequency.. it's just keeping on trying over and over.

Taking to the dealer tommorrow. Any idea what would be the problem be?

Thanks.

No radio stations you your area? Perhaps the antenna is not connected. I'd let the dealship deal with it.

Don't know why Acura tends to have weaker signals than any other car. My mom's MDX has a similar problem, where most of her AM and some of her FM just don't even play. Just pure silence and sometimes static.

I have some complaints to that as well for my TSX, but nothing really because I don't listen to AM anyway.

My guess is the antenna just got disconnected. It's easy to plug back in, but I'll have to scan the helm's manual when I get home to show you where. Some of our other members may be able to do so sooner...

Took the car to the dealer. Looks like they need to replace the whole radio and cd player unit.

not sure why they need to replace cd player too, as it works find. Does radio and cd player come together?

When replacing radio, do they replace the interior plastic too, (I mean the audio buttons etc.) If so, I am thinking if there will be any color difference between new part and other interior.

It's all one unit, but if it's not under warranty, it will be very expensive to replace.

I think it's covered under warranty, as it's less than 2 yrs. I bought the car and 23,500 miles.

Well, definitely get them to replace it then. It would be a couple grand for you to do it when it's out of warranty, so better get it done now.

Agreed. Get them to swap you out a brand new unit. Dont let them put in the "remanufactured" or "refurbished" unit if possible.
