Radio cuts out
I tried researching but I couldnt find the answer. My problem just started yesterday. As im playing the radio the sound cuts out for a split second about 5 times every minute. Its only for half a second, and then the sound comes back. The intervals arent the same. This happens whether its playing a cd or radio reception.
Before this I upgraded all the speakers to Alpine Type-S's, but that was 9 months ago and I havent had a single problem.
Does anyone know the answer to this? Im guessing there may be 2 possible answers. That there is a power issue somewhere, probably the stock amp, since that is what im using. The thing is that when the speakers cut out the stock headunit remains on the entire time.
My other guess is that there may be a loose connection to one of the speakers. I know for a fact that if one speaker isnt connected it affects others. When I was installing my sub which I spliced the signal from the back 6x9 none of them worked. It was due to me not having one of the rear 6.5s connected. After I connected the 6.5 all 4 of the speakers worked( the 6.5, 6x9s, and the sub).
Anyone got any ideas?

I found someone with a similar problem, but no solution. His happened after he had the head unit replaced do the lighting problem. I have never had it replaced and my lights are fine.
His and mine are 2004s.

Are all speakers cutting out?
To test this, fade away from the alpines and see if the other OEM speakers are having problems. This should help you determine if it's a speaker wiring issue or an issue with the HU wiring. Good luck!

I'm still having that problem to this day. It's rare, but when it happens it bugs the hell out of me. The dealer said that they've never had this problem before and that the only way they can trouble shoot it is to bring it in when it happens. What a joke!

mines does it with everything. And its getting worse. Yesterday I got stuck in traffic for 1 hour and the whole time the radio didnt work. Then as I was pulling up to my house it cut back on. It pissed me off. Again my problem is with any sound, whether cd or radio reception.

sometimes when i start the car it will already be cut out, sometimes not, bumps dont really make a difference. Im thinking either the amp or the head unit is on the fritz. It sucks cause im out of warranty. This just may be a sign from god telling me to do the switch to the navi.

Summer is Coming
How did you make your connections when you replaced the speakers? Twist or soldered? Did you seal the splice? Could have had some moisture get into your splices.

i just twisted them, im thinking there is something wrong with one of my connections. I know I should have crimped them and all, but i thought twisting and then sealing with electrical tape would do the trick.

I'm having the same problem. It just started today. It doesn't matter if I''m listening to the radio or XM. I doesn't matter what I have the volume on. Every speaker cuts out for a split second then comes back. Very Annoying.
The car will also jump from the displaying the radio stations to the map. I also had trouble using the channel changer on my steering wheel so I know it's not the speakers. It's got to be the stereo unit.
Does anyone have an idea what's going on. I think it has something to do with the stereo itself.
