Question Question re Importation of Acura into the US

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this board and didn't know where else to post this question.

I recently moved to Washington State from Canada. I'm bringing my car with me. It's a 1997 Acura 1.6EL. This car is only sold in Canada.

Does anyone know if customs/licensing will allow me to import and register my 97 EL in Washington state?

Thanks!

Hi Armsofsteel,

My sister imported her Odyssey from Vancouver to Seattle a couple of years ago. As far as I remember, they did not have any problems. However, they had to make sure that the Canadian specs will satisfy the US requirements. As to whether your EL will be OK, that's probably different since it's not sold in the US. Still, I have seen cars not usually sold in the US here, so there probably is a way.

Sorry I'm not of much help, but good luck!

I know someone that has a 2000 Acura 1.6EL. He had no problem bringing it over to the states. Its essentially a luxurious Civic sedan. Canadian and US specs/requirements are essentially the same. You shouldn't have a problem registering that car in the states.
