problem with car swaying towards driver side on the road

Is there anyone out there experiencing similar problem , my car has about 60k miles and still on stock suspension(I plan to change them soon) when on the road or highway the car tends to sway towards the driver side(gradually but needs constant steering adjustment to keep straight) any idea why this happened. BTW , the car never had any accident. Thanks

Are you on the fast lane? If so the lanes are made as a curve. So the car moves to the left if your on the left side of the highway and to the right if on the slow lane.

well this is creepy... i just came online to post about a similar thing happening to me. mine started happening after i took the car to walmart to take off the winter tires and put the summer ones on. the summer ones weren't re-balance but done from last year.

i added a progress rsb when the winter ones were on and now the car tends to pull to the driver side and overall feels wobbly when going over bumps, basically feels like it's swaying to the left and right. thoughts?

when I turn on my headlights against the wall, the driver side beam looks lower than passanger side. Maybe there was a difference in the height of the suspension.

It's suppose to do that. There's a cutoff line for the left headlight so you do not blind oncoming cars.

My car does this. I just had wheels balanced and an alignment and everything is in spec. They tell me it's following the road and sometimes I believe them but it seems to go left nearly all the time, different roads, different lanes, different directions, etc. It's not strongly pulling but eventually veers left. But every now and again it holds straight so I just don't know what to think.

I'm glad i'm not the only one with this problem. When I got new tires at about 50K miles I started to notice a considerable problem with my car swaying towards the left. I got the new tires balanced and aligned. The tire folks told me that they did everything they were supposed to but they can not correct the problem. At least I'm not the only one.

how many ppl have the progress rsb? i wonder if it has something to do with installing the rsb with one set of tires and then changing 'em to a different set.

Mine still has stock RSB , I wonder if this can be corrected with the height adjustable coil ove suspension, maybe play around with the height on both sides so that the car will pull straight. Usually the car will veers to the lower side.

I've had my car re-aligned twice now and it has under 4000 miles on it. The first time my dealer did it at around 2000 miles. They set the cross camber to 0.9 which is beyond the allowable specs (-0.8 to 0.8 is allowable) to make it go straight is my belief. Now I just had my car realigned by a Hunter machine (which is supposed to be the best) and this new mechanic probably reset that 0.9 value to within specs. By doing so, the car now veers to the left (driver side).

I took a test drive with him this morning cause he wanted to feel it. We checked tire pressure and such, he basically told me he was afraid to fix it cause it may veer to the right, he said it was that close. I disagree and it is frustrating to say the least. He wants me to drive it for a week and call him next Friday and if it is still bad, he said he'd put it on the alignment machine again.

I just put on Tech M500s too and sorta feel like it is doing this. I just have the Comptech Sway. I would agree from that post it has to do with the "road ruts". I'm running 225/50 17s because I didn't want the lower sidewall of the 45 series. I've had a 45 series and this 50 is much nicer on the highway and I still get the stiff sideway for cornering.

I'm due for an alignment soon, so I'll report back.

No alignment won't fix this, well at least it didn't for me.
I'm glad, well not glad but, that I not going crazy. As soon as I hit 20,000 so odd miles this started. Immediately I took it to the deal got an alignment and it still pulled to the drives side slightly. I was told to drive it out for a week or so and come back, which I did and it still pulled, so I took it back and got another alignment, no change. 20,000 miles new tires and another alignment later and it still pulls slightly.

Honestly I thought I was just being anal.

After awhile I just got used to it and didn't notice it anymore. It sucks but if someone knows how to fix this please help!

Yea... I can never get my car to go straight as well. It always either pull left or right. I would try it on an open freeway... set my car straight, let go of the steering wheel, and it'll begin to drift off the straight line. It's straight sometimes so I'm confused too.

Bump. I've got 35k on my 2006 and just a few weeks ago it has started fading to the left. It's very minor, but it really bugs me to have the steering wheel perpetually turned a few degrees to compensate. Checked tire pressure, rotated tires, etc. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to be worse when the car isn't warmed up--don't know what that means.

Does anybody have an update on their problem? Should I get an alignment or will it be a waste of money?

oh and oyu are right, it does get better when my car warms up, i have 52k miles; 2004 TSX.

71,000km now. Have had issue with pulling to the left slightly since new. It appears to be less noticable in the center or right lanes. If you have the original Michelin Pilot MX4V, I heard that these are a possible contibutor. I am getting a set to Yokoama's when I'm in Florida.

Don't get your hopes up too high. I've had Yoko Avid V4S for about 10K miles and the car still pulls/tracks to the left.

Yeah, I've got winter tires on now, so it's not the Michelins. My local Acura dealer wants $82 for alignment, which is fairly reasonable for a dealer--I'll give it another week to see if it improves or gets worse. Today on the drive home from work the drift was completely unnoticeable, but on the drive in it was pretty bad. Weird.

Ok, took the car to the Acura dealer. I rode with the tech, he acknowledged the leftward drift. He swapped the tires to the other side of the car (temporarily, since they're directional winter tires), and the car drifted to the right. This indicates that it's a tire issue. I'm going to deal with the annoyance for another month until I put my summer tires on. If the problem's gone then, it's definitely a tire issue. He said that as long as it's not causing any abnormal wear on the tires I probably shouldn't worry about it, but it does annoy me.

More of the same

'05 AT 30k miles... distinct left drift. Had my dealer take a look when I had it in last week for service (oil change/tire rotation/etc.) and he attributes it to the fact that one tire is newer than the other three (about 3/32 tread depth difference). But, there is no uneven wear across the treads so it doesn't appear to be out of alignment. No apparent change after the tire rotation. I have a 40 mile commute each way to work, so I spend a considerable amount of time daily on cruise-control on a fairly straight stretch of highway - damn irritating "fighting" the pull to the left. I'm going to live with it for now, but come spring/early summer I'm going to be replacing the tires. It would seem that even new tires and alignment don't resolve this so I'm not getting overly optimistic. Maybe a call into Acura Customer Care is in order? See if they are aware of this "problem" and can offer a solution.

Anybody have any luck with finding a solution to this? My problem has come back, after being dormant for a couple months (no changes/alignment/service). Very irritating problem. The drifting occurs with both my winter and summer tires, regardless of individual wheel placement. Could it be a suspension problem? Struts or shocks?

I've also noticed that if I jerk the wheel back a forth a bit (carefully at high speed) the leftward drift goes away for a little bit.

Bringing the thread back from dead. I too have this problem but it pulls to the right. I have done everything in my power to fix it. 2 different shops with alignments, frame shop, etc. I still have the problem. My car is original owner clean title/carfax. I am running 225/45/17 Dunlop Dirrezas that are brand new. I noticed the pull only after I installed the new tires. I had the tires flipped from right to left no change. The one thing I noticed is, these cars have very sensitive steering and low caster settings. From my experience low caster will make the steering more sensitive and track the road crown harder. I don think there is a solution, unless you put on less sticky tires and in the OE size.

The only two mods I have are Tein CST coilovers and Ingalls rear camber kit, with a perfect alignment. I had the problem prior to mods.

well I just got some new rims, tires, coilovers, rear camber kit and front strut bar and I'm having this problem too.... my car is straying to the right from time to time and I need to turn my wheel left to fix this problem....I had an alignment done too and it didn't help, I never had this problem before I install the stuff and was on winter tires.... :/

It seems to me that tires with less stickyness don't track the road as hard. Befor I had bald stock tires with no problmes. What I also noticed was the car will track left or right depending on the derection of the road crown.

I've noticed even on my partially-worn stock tires that the TSX tracks the road more than any other car I've driven. It takes some getting used to.

Also having this problem. I brought it to do an alignment and wheels balanced 2x. First time I thought sears werre just morons, so I brought it to a mechanic I trust, but the issue came back where the car goes off center sometimes. It seems like it likes going right at local speeds and left at highway speeds. Also have the vibration issue, but nobody mentioned where the wheel seems unresponsive with slight corrections. Anyone else having that problem and what's the fix?

What brand and size tires are you running? If the vibration happens at acceleration, then its your axles. If it happens when you brake its the rotors. If it happens at cruising speeds then its the balance of the tires. THe steering is very sensitive because of the cars low caster angle. Slight imperfections in the road will cause steering vibration. I honestly think that all the problems posted above are normal, except the vibration.
