my 3rd gear grinds everytime i shift at high rpms wtf is up why does this occur?

 

what should i do? Ive heard from a few of my friends that it could be my sink rows or sumthing like that ???????

 

do you drive it hard how many miles are on it? take it to the dealer sounds like u forced it into gear and chewed up some teeth. if your synchros are bad already im really scared for my car

 

yes i drive my car hard but only grinded 3rd gear ONCE other then that nice clean smooth shifts now it 3rd gear grinds everytime i am at 5500 rpms or higher

 

that noise isn't your gears grinding... it's your synchros doing there job. Under heavy load that is the noise they will make. Try double clutching on your up shift to avoid this noise. my s2000 does this on a 1st - 2nd shift. I just can feel when it's going to happen now so I know when to double clutch. Not the quickest get away but it's not like it happens all the time.

 

welp i have had a rental for the past 9 days (really depressing coming from a tsx to a dodge caravan) they told me they had to order a whole new third gear and 3rd gear synchro i dont know what would be the cause of this.when i first took it in the service manager said the cause was probably my driving but the thing was how could this be i mean a brand new car should be able to handle one bad shift have bout 11k on my baby and synchro i can see em ordering a new one of those maybe but a whole new third gear????? i dk ill keep u guys updated i should get the report tomorrow and i will be asking for a very detailed one at that

Are they replacing it under warranty?

 

yes it was under warranty only because i have purchased 8 cars at the dealership so otherwise it would have been considered drivier default the service manager said it was do to bad shifting or so he says w/e man at least i got my car repaired. on the report it said "Vehicle will not shift into 3rd gear most of the time third gear is very hard to engage. In Snycro's replaced the third gear syncro set and reset toe on front afterwards---completed" my clutch still clicks but it seems like when i let go of the clutch it springs up faster seems weird but i dk if thats good or bad

If the "updated part" story I got from my dealer is true, you may want to confirm with your dealer whether you got the "updated part" when they replaced your 3rd gear synchro.

Curiously enough, mine and yours are the only threads about a third gear synchro problem that I found, searching on "synchro." I'd think there'd be more if it was really a common enough problem for them to update the part design. Mine also happened regardless of RPM, not just above 5500 like yours.
