Premature Wear on Inner Tie Rod Common?

I've done a search, but did not see anyone having this problem developed prematurely. I felt something loose in the front suspension last week, raised up the car to check it out, and it appears to be the driver's side inner tie rod. The passenger side was nice and tight. All boots and bushings are still good as the car only has 30k miles for an '08. Was just wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing.

Inner Tie Rod

I have a 2006 TSX with only 39K miles when I bought it I had to have the inner tie rod replaced and the rack and pinion steering replaced not sure if the previous owner caused the damage or it had premature failure. I was fortunate the car had a transferable extended warranty on it cost me zero to get fixed.

Boy did you luck out with the warranty (most extended warranties are not transferable in my experience). We have had a few here that needed rack replacement, though I don't recall what model years seem to be susceptible (if any are more so than others). Same with the tie rod I suppose, not real common, but as with any car, some will have more problems that others. We're at the mercy of suppliers on a part like this (the tie rod), and when one is bad, I have to assume they'll run off a batch of bad ones at the same time. What sucks the most is that they don't know it, and the end user finds out a few years down the road.
