dream on, you cannot buy prepainted body panels. I know, had my fender and bumper painted after an accident.

Unfortunately you can't just unbolt the old fender and bolt on a new one. The fender is welded in place so you have to cut the old one off and weld in a new one. Welding would destroy the finish so they don't bother to paint them from the factory.

I could be wrong but I thought the TSX used a conventional unit body construction.

Do you know why acura decided to weld on the fender instead of just bolting it on?

We should probably double check to make sure it is actually welded but usually they do that in unit body construction because the body and the chassis are one continuous piece. It's cheaper to manufacture that way. The older cars used a body on chassis construction where the the body was assembled separately from the chassis and then they were mated together at the end of the production line. Still in that case most cars would have welded on fenders but some may have fenders you could unbolt.

I'm sure it will be $1000+ to get a new fender installed and painted. It's possible that they could just take the dent out and repaint it for a lot less. How much damage is there?

They still may be able to fix it. I'd take it to a couple reputable body shops and ask for an estimate.

your dent sounds like mine, just the front was bent in. they pounded it out and repainted, looks great, no need for a new one. and if some lady did it shouldn't her insurance be paying for it?

According to geico, reparing a fender is about 4.0 hrs labor, 3.7 hrs of painting.

labor is $36/hr, and paint is $24/hr, sooo

$144 labor + $222 paint labor/supplies comes out to $366.
