Power steering fluid
Power steering fluid
I've been on a fluid kick lately (just bled my brake fluid & yesterday an oil change). While I was waiting for the old oil to drain, I decided to change my power steering fluid as well.
This is what I did:
1. Removed as much power steering fluid as I could using a turkey baster ( fluid was brownish color).
2. Refilled with new fluid.
3. Started the car and turned the steering wheel all the way to left, then all the way to the right (did this 3 times)
4. Removed more power steering fluid with the turkey baster - but this time it was much clearer than the first time.
4. Refilled with new fluid to the correct mark.
Did I miss a step? Should I have done something different? I haven't able to get a straight answer on how to do this w/o removing hoses (don't feel comfortable, doing that).
The steering feels almost the same as before this DIY.
