Popping sound from rear driver side

Hello all,

I'm hoping you guy can help me determine what's going on when I get in and out of my car.

When I open the door on the driver side (as well as passenger on driver side), I hear a popping sound coming from the rear bumper area just past the gas tank. This only happens when I open the door, it just pops. I never hear this when driving normally or going over bumps.

Any ideas?

I believe that most cars have a "flapper" to allow pressure to equalize in the car. Opening the door creates momentary suction inside the cabin/trunk (since they're connected) and opens the flapper briefly. The sound you hear is likely the flapper closing.
