You know, I am not going to be satisfied unless I get at least 50 votes from this.

I find the reception to be very strange. I can't get some local (Toronto) stations but Buffalo stations come in loud an clear! I'd give the radio a 4 out of 10.

Has anyone noticed how HOT the Cds (and the storage compartment) get when kept
loaded 2-3 hours in the player with the headlights on? I wonder how long the discs will be able to maintain their integrity before they are irreversibly damaged?

I have to vote poor too. Is there any kind of 'antenna booster' on the market?

It's OK. The problem is with the radio stations, not the radio. I now have Sirius satellite radio. Once you've experienced 100 channels with no commercials, you will never go back!

Thumbs down

I'm very disappointed about the FM reception. My 94 BMW had an antennae in the rear window and I never had any problems with reception. I live in the D.C. area and use to be able to get Baltimore and Annapolis stations static free, but not anymore. Even the local stations have static, especially when I'm at an intersection. There's got to be a solution. Maybe HD radio will be the answer.

No FM problems for me in Toronto, even 2 floors down in underground parking. I've been in certain parts of Scarberia where cell phones will lock onto a US carrier insted of local.

What are you comparing to, though?

I wish we had some kind of way to compare this objectively. Maybe if we specified some station at some exact intersection... I think I remember mix 99.9 at hwy 7 and east beaver creek had some noticeable noise.. but I've heard worse. I notice it all over the 404/DVP.

I still think my reception is bad compared to other cars I have been in, but it is still subjective. More importantly, it is annoying me (though not enough so I'm really upset enough to do anything about it).

Only in the garage, when the car is stationary, is there relatively clear FM reception. As soon as the car is in motion, and especially when changing direction, loud static bursts intrude; AM reception is fine.
The problem is not with the transmitting radio stations but with the TSXs inadequate antenna & FM receiver.

Cool FM Reception

The FM reception of this car is like satellite radio compared to the radio in my last car; a Saab 9000 CS. I live in Boston and the AM radio picks up WFAN in NY. I have no issues with the radio at all.
God Bless the radio Mr. Perdue, you make a fine oven stuffer roaster!

I'm compariing it to what I think is acceptable performance. Specifically, the FM in my car comes in clearly 99% of the time w/o noticeable static, throughout much of the GTA, from Ajax to Milton. Well, at least for the stations I listen to, which includes 99.9.

This is something we should compare at the next TO meet.

Yes, the AM reception is OK but listen to 'low volume' FM stations such as WGBH, WBUR or WCRB and notice the static in motion & as you change direction. I live ~25 miles west of Boston and avoid the above cited stations because of the static surges.

I do not hear any static or changes in the FM radio reception at all. I am pleased this car does not do it, but not happy that so many others complain about it and hear a problem.
