Passenger seat issue

This is weird. When no one is sitting in the passenger seat, it is fine. However, someone sitting in passenger seat and it makes a groaning/squeeking noise. It happens when you step on the brake or step on the gas, so its obviously something to do with movement. Side to side movement in the seat DOES NOT matter. Only front to back I guess? Took it to the dealer, they said they lubed the tracks, and that my car has no open TSB's.

Anyone experienced that passenger seat noise? What is the culprit?

Thanks!

It was strange, they gave me an 06 TSX with 27k miles as a loaner. That thing was beat down! Brakes were soooooooo bad - if it had pads or rotors I couldn't tell. But the brake pedal would pulsate terribly!

Hmm..maybe the seat is touching the bare metal in the car. There was a TSB for the front driver seat and they had to cut a piece of the carpet and put it in between the two metal.

Ya, I was thinking that. But that TSB is for 06 model drivers seat. The dealer said it didn't apply to my car since its an 07 and its the front passenger seat.

I had the same exact problem in my '06. It only happened when starting out from a dead stop, stopping, or switching gears. It wasn't a side to said sound. Just front to back. Took it to the dealership and they found out that the seat wasn't tightened down all the way at the factory. They torqued the bolts and I haven't had a problem since. Try moving it with your hands without someone sitting in it. I'll bet it rocks back and forth slightly.

Thanks! I am not able to have it make the sound without somone sitting in it, yet. I am sure it will get worse though. I hate the idea of going back to the dealer again, twice within the first two weeks of ownership. But what you said pretty much makes sense.

Weird, it didn't make the sound today when it was hot out, but went out there around 8pm. had been dark for an hour or so. Sat in the passenger seat and BAM, there was the noise. Its almost like a whoopee cushion!

What could this be?

Got the car back after two days in the shop. Of course my loaner TSX didn't make a sound!

My drivers seat problem is fixed. Thats great!

The passenger seat is not fixed. They took the seat apart and lubed everything up inside that could possibly be making a noise. I still think it must be the way the seat is attached to the floor, or maybe an actual spring in the seat bottom is screwy.

Left them a message, hopefully they will just order the seat bottom and be done with it. And hopefully the TSB for the driver side 06 models would at least be looked at on the 07 passenger side as well.

There is also a dash board/A pillar rattle on the passenger side, but I figure I will chase that down myself, or at least try to.

Drivers seat is good to go, it seems. So thats a plus.

Loose nut behind the wheel

Wow! Do you realize you spend more time on this forum than you do in your car? A squeak when cold, sometimes, when someone is sitting in it. How dare acura not fix something they cannot duplicate. They should use their majic wand on it. Hahaha!

There is one (at least) on every board.

Turns out it is the seat rails, which are not available right away as too many people need them! Car should be fixed next week, hopefully third time is the charm. I will be sure to let you know! So you better block my whining posts if you don't wanna hear it!

Dude, quit being a jerk! The purpose of this forum is for people to come here and talk abot their TSX's. They may talk about the wonderful things or they may attempt to troubleshoot some problems that they are having. Sometimes just talking to some other people who have had the same problem helps to figure out how to fix it. Don't be rude. Let us talk about some stuff like the squeaking seat in peace. If you don't like it...go away!! Have a little basic forum ettiquete and don't butt your nose in where it's not wanted or needed. Hope you don't ever have any problems with your TSX and expect us to help you out. Now find another forum to hijack!

Or he could just find another forum to be a member of and start posting sarcastic crap on it after only being a member for 4 days.

It amazes me that you people want to whine so badly about such little things. Your car is put together with thousands of pieces of plastic and metal. Only a small percentage of you have ever worked on a mechanical device in your life. You can spend hours in front of your laptop just grinding on people who genuinly want to fix your vehicle. This jerkoff wants lemon law after two weeks because of a rattle. Not even sharp enough to find out about the law. I see the same people huddle together and talk about how sh---y thier job is but dont have enough balls to quit. This guy is one of those. Sure , use this forum as a referance, not as an avenue to shed your pathetic tears. For those defending this sap, buy stock in tissues. Your going to need it. My TL has some issues. My corvette has even more. So does my 5000 dollar computer. Get over it people!

I think its funny that you talk about balls when you clearly don't have them.

If my three week old car has problems, I am going to ask questions and bring them up. If one dealer can fix it, and the other can't, that means the dealer that can't is stupid. That pretty much sums it up. This is textbook easy - you don't do YOUR job right, and people complain. Its that simple. And it bugs you in real life because you think you shouldn't have to do your job right, but you don't have the nerve to tell people in real life what you think, so you feel better doing it online from the safety of your overpriced computer. My dad paid $5000 for computers in the 1980's, not sure who would do that now....no wonder your computer has problems, those people saw you coming a mile away and gave you the "managers special" knowing you wouldn't complain because you are such a stand up guy!

Oh, my car rattles. Good for you that you accept and enjoy problems in your Acura and awesome Vette and computer, but I prefer my things to have problems caused by ME! Not the factory.

My last computer was $3200, and my laptop cost $3500. These weren't even the high-end models. You have to realize that there's alot of cutting edge technology out there. DVD burners, dual hard drives, dual video cards, water-cooling, microsoft's windows, office suite, etc. If I were to get the top of the line, I could probably hit $5,000. And mind you, the last computer was built myself with components that I had picked because of their lower price. Why do you think banks have special loans called computer loans?

So to answer your question, I would. Some might require the latest computer for their job (whether it be graphics design, music industry, or whatever), and some might do it for personal reasons (gaming, pride, etc.) I have a degree in computer science, so of course my computer needs to be better than the common ones out there ;-P

Anyway, there goes my spiel on why anyone would want an expensive computer

Wow, you must really want to make friends around here? Don't be so fast to catagorize someone because of one thread. The man just bought a new car and feels there are some issues with it. It sounds like you may have had a bad day and just want to take it out here. Cool off and try to be a little more objective when posting or try to practice that old saying: If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

The difference here is, of course, if you pay that much for a computer, would you accept that it came from the factory with problems? Or would you attempt to get those problems fixed? Because according to this guy, he is fine with his TL, Vette, and $5000 computer having problems. Good for him, but his views not mine. Its the juvenile attitudes that amaze me - thats all. But I have to say, I was warned that the Honda/Acura boards do have some people that don't want to hear anything bad about their cars

update!

Knocking wood....

It appears that the dealer fixed the passenger seat! So nice to not hear that noise (that was getting worse everytime I drove it, towards the end a person wasn't necessary in the seat, it did it on its own)!

Now just track down that reverb/rattle from the dash area (I think) and its good as gold.

In case anyone has the passenger seat problem, they had to replace two rails that had sensors in them. Then reprogram something so it would accept the new rails (something to do with airbags).

I saw lots of older Acuras at the dealer. It must be good sign that the dealer is good, otherwise why take an out of warrantly Legend or first gen TL to a dealer for service, right?

boo!

Well, passenger seat has new noise. Now they have to replace the seat rails.

In all honestly, with them taking it apart, putting it back together, replacing sensors, etc, and now the rails, should I be taking this as a sign that its a lemon? Maybe not in the legal way, but in the reality way? Replacing rails is going to solve something?

I am wondering if maybe the car was in an accident before delivery, and they won't tell me.

Anyway, should I be resigning myself to passenger seat looseness and noise? Is it possible that it can ever be right if it wasn't right by the robots at the factory?

I am the only one with PASSENGER seat issues it seems, based on searches here. Grrr.

I gotta take out some super glue as well to fix the rear headliner. Its all ripped at the back, doesn't sit smooth on the rear panels.

I'd like to visit this factory in Japan where it was assembled!
