passenger door speaker rattle fixed..
ok another thread about how to fix rattles in the car. this was my only rattle and only happened on certain bass frequencies.
i dont take my car to the dealer because as many of you have found out most the mechanics havnt got a clue how to fix anything that doesnt require a wrench or some computer pinpointing the problem. it took me all of 5 minutes to find.
in my case the passenger front window switch has a plastic trim peice that holds the switch as well as sits flush with the arm rest. if you look closely the plastic trim around the switch, it is loose. you can actually wiggle it slightly. i stuck a narrow strip of black double sided sticky foam or double sided tape with foam in between (about 1/8th " wide X 1" long X 1/32" thick) between the trim and the armrest area. it hidden nicely in between the 2 peices and can't be seen unless you know where to look.
compleatly stopped the rattles i had been hearing when playing the radio on certain songs.
if you have this rattle you can verify it by listening to the radio on a song that causes the rattle and touching the plastic trim around the window swith. it is the part that your finger will touch if you operate the window switch when you stick your finger into the hole in front of the actual lever you lift or push down to operate the window.
this curved shaped peice of plastic under the switch itself does not seem to be attached solid to anything and is loose.
you dont even need to take the door panel apart to fix it.
