Oil life reminder issue ?
Oil life reminder issue ?
07 TSX. At 4 mos. and 5k miles still showed 10% life. I changed the oil and reset reminder. Today after only 500 miles it has dropped to 90%.
I thought this reminder was based on mileage. Anyone else experience this ?

Yup, that's normal. Mine was very close to that when it dropped down to 90%. Assuming you don't drive the TSX as if it's a race car in the Indy 500, 10% oil life should occur ~ 4.5-6.5K miles

Mine just dropped to 90% today, and I have a brand new 08 with about 470 miles on it. Not much highway driving yet(maybe 120 of those), and I haven't really pushed it hard yet.
After searching on this topic, it's pretty clear that the maintenence minder intervals for oil change are pretty conservative.
For the first oil change, shouldn't you let it go a bit on the long side anyway, since the first oil has stuff in it to break in the engine? Or is it the other way around, say the first oil gets more crud in it from the engine being brand new and getting broken in? I think the book says the former somewhere, to be sure to not change the oil the first time earlier than it says.
The 04/05's say 10k miles for the first oil change under "normal conditions!"
I did 5500ish for my prior 98 Accord and it seemed just fine, the dealer never yelled at me, haha.
