Oil Filter Issues

Hey,
I just finished my first oil change, and noticed that the oil filter i got from the local Acura dealer (DCH Montclair) was the Honeywell filter 15400-PLM-A02, while the filter that came from the factory was the Filtech one 15400-PLM-A01. The filter cap wrench i got from H and A fit the A01 perfectly, but doesn't fit the A02 filter at all! Has anyone else had this problem, and did you find another size cap wrench that fits?
TIA

Honda and Acura have switched to the Honeywell filter for many models. You can still get the Filtech filter (original) off ebay from one of the online dealers.

H and A sells the filtech ones, but i've got 6 more Honeywells that i got with the car that i'd rather not toss out.

Why not just buy the "strap-on" filter wrench?

I have the filter cap wrench from the same place and I've used both the Filtech and Honeywell. Dont know why its not working for you...

Honeywell and Filtech are manufacturers of the oil filters.

They're both Honda Blue, but the cap is different- same number of flutes, but the Honeywell is slightly (1-2mm) bigger.

Go get a Wix filter (available as a NAPA Gold from your local NAPA auto parts). They kick the snot out of the Honeywell and Filtech ones according to MANY people on bobistheoilguy.com

I am running one and had no problems. Was $12 CAD, so probably available for about $8-$9 USD, and available at almost all NAPA locations.
