new TSX 6MT finally arrives - some minor issue questions, input valued...
Well the new 6MT finally arrived 2 weeks back after a 2 month wait. All very exciting - obviously very sad to see the back of the 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 lease car :-)
3 minor issues that i have noticed - 1 i have already heard plenty about that is #3 on the list. The car is going to the dealer for these this week but wanted to get some other opinions.
1. squeaking/whistling noise heard inside car. most noticeable at idle but not correlated to idle speed. thought it may be a noisy fan for the climate control but not present when climate control on but engine not running. constant speed - does not increase rotation with idle. not heard under the hood - only in car. is this a characteristic engine noise?
2. a one time "scrape" noise almost like something grounding or a brake part dragging - only heard when about 30/40 feet from pulling away from a cold start in 1st. Is this the ABS resetting? I remember test driving an RX8 and it made a noise like this. I hope it is something like this rather than some impending clutch or trans issue.
3. oh yes the door rattles :-) both driver and passenger side. between the lock button and end of trim panel. minor vibration on rough surfaces especially at highway speeds. mitigated by pressing on door panel.
Let me know what you think as i am still in that tense new-car paranoia phase. Other than that love the revtastic 2.4l I4 and am looking forward to extending it, and exploring the handling a little more.

Not sure if this is #1 or not, but my 6mt's experience I've noticed a whistling noise which seems to be coming from driver side of engine when the engine rpms are at 2000-3500 rpms. From reading threads this resonance comes from the air box/intake system. I've been told it's normal and that all 6mt's have this.

the sound in #1 is independent of engine revs and can be heard at standstill and while moving until windnoise and roadnoise drown it - i thought it was part of the idle noise. it may just be normal. if i get a loaner TSX i will see if the other car has it.
