Need Help Troubleshooting Parasitic Drain

Hi All,

I have removed my Bluetooth module which has caused a previous parasitic drain. I'll start off with I've installed an aftermarket Android radio (with integrated HVAC controls) off of Ali Express and a backup camera a year ago. I don't drive the car a lot and there are weeks (1-2) where I alternate between another car. Last week I drove to my sister's and had no problem. When I tried to leave I was getting slow crank to the point that the battery was dead. I let it sit a few seconds and then it cranked over. Next day I test the battery charge 500CCA and it passed but stated recharge. I tested the starter as well as the alternator and they all passed using my TopDon tester.

I started looking for a parasitic draw and found it was pulling 12.5V even after 2 minutes. I pulled all of the fuses from both inside the driver's footwell and the fuse box next to the battery. It was still pulling 5.8V. I did miss a 50A that is by itself next to the engine bay fuse box so not sure is the cause or not. I had all of the fuses back in and pulled that one but it did not decrease. From what I was reading online I should get a startup of 5V and then it should drop so something else is wrong here.

I am going to try to pull the aftermarket radio tomorrow but does anyone else know if I missed a fuse box somewhere? The HVAC controls on this unit aren't the greatest and the temp is not as good as the OEM, could it have gone...but it doesn't make sense why so much of a pull in voltage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry I was using volts instead of Amps. I will check again and report back if I still see any issues.

Ok a bit of a update. I am seeing .3A draw on hookup and it drops to .03/.02A after about a minute. If I leave it overnight and then run a 500CCA battery test it shows battery ok recharge. I may need to take out the aftermarket radio and re-install the stock one back in. If anyone has additional help on what else I could try I would appreciate it.

Another update, I hooked up a clamp meter to the negative side and turned on the radio. I then shut it off and locked the car. The amp draw was .002

Here is a follow up. I charged the battery and it indicated that the battery was bad. I then tested it again with my TopDon, 500CCA out of car, after charged and it passed.

I think I'm going to grab a new battery from Acura on Monday and swap it out. I have a feeling that this is just discharging too fast and has some internal issue.

Thanks for the updates! 99% of these threads ask for help but then they never post followups on troubleshooting or solutions to help everyone else. Quite frustrating, in my opinion.

Swapped out battery and issue was still there. So I had two issues at the same time, 1) the starter was failing and 2) battery was failing.

Hope this helps anyone in the future. The starter took me 2 days on and off because of the rust and clips not coming off like they should. One of the clips that goes on the intake broke so it is sitting there now with some electrical tape until I find some permanent fix.
