Exhaust Fumes in Cabin after Starter Replacement
Exhaust Fumes in Cabin after Starter Replacement
Hi All,
I just noticed that exhaust fumes are a stronger now at idle after I replaced my starter which involves removal of the intake. I did not replace the metal gasket as others mentioned you really don't need to. Is it possible that is where the smell is coming from? I torqued the bolts per the manual which I think were 16 ft/lbs if I recall. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Here is the update. I got the smoke machine and hooked it up to the exhaust. It took a little while but I was able to find the leak. It is in the a-pipe, probably in the flex pipe area. It could also be in the gasket. I'll jack the car up on Tuesday to confirm but most likely I'll need to bring this in for a repair.
