When going from 2nd to 3rd, I get a distinct notch sound when getting to the neutral position as well as when finishing the shift. The sounds comes from the base of the shifter (right under the leather of the stick) and sound like metal clicks. It's quite loud and not quiet like the other shifts. The motion of shifting isn't difficult and has very little resistance except for the points that make the clicking noises. Any ideas what's causing the noises? Thanks.

 

i think its supposed to make that noise in all gears, just varies depending on how you shift or your clutch etc. ive noticed that most if not all cars with a more sports-prony tranny make this same noise which I think is actually cool.

i wonder if mine still makes it? i cant even count to you how many times i have grinded my 3rd gear for letting the clutch out too soon. never had the problem in other cars, but the shifter on the tsx goes into gear so easily that i tend to just flick it into gear instead of pushing it from slot to slot like i should, and as a result if i let the clutch out sooner, it just pops against something, grinds like a demon, and i have to reinsert it.

Cool. I have noticed that the metal-on-metal noises are only on the shifts away from me (2->3, 4->5, 4->3, etc...). The sound is much less noticable on downshifts though. When I'm pulling the shift towards me, the shift is silky smooth and has no sound whatsoever regardless of how I shift. It's just confused why the sound isn't consistent through all gears...
