Didn't take the blue covers off mine yet, they look too pretty that way. I will when they start peeling though.

I've had multiple passengers in my car mention the rust on the door sills. The next time I'm at the dealer, I'm going to see if it's a common problem and if there is anything to be done about it other than scraping it off every time I wash my car.

Those plates are made from stainless steel so I would look to see if the rust is coming from somewhere else and just dripping onto the plates.

I have no rust stains on mine, but then again I only have 3,300 km on it. It has endured some nasty weeks of Toronto weather with lots of snow and rain though.

I hate this forum! Everytime someone points out a new TSX defect, I notice that I too have it. After reading this thread I looked in my car. I have small (1-2mm) rust spots on the metal accents inside the door. The spots rub off easily, but I do not know how they got there. I guess I will add that to my care care routine.

LoL I hear ya. I was my car at least once a week with this Alaska break up weather. All that mud and salt just destroys cars. So far no rust spots on mine, but I will keep an eye on it. The blue stuff is on the rear doors, but the original owner took them off the front. If you still have them I'd leave it on as long as possible, they keep it nice and clean/preserves it.

Go to the other forums and see owners rant about problems with other types of cars then. No car is immune.

It just sounds like the only thing that's holding you back from buying a TSX is some rust on a stainless steel name plate.

Nothing wrong with that. But if you are holding back because of a few complaints on this website, then there is something wrong. Spend some time on some other car websites and you will see that not only do they have problems, but they are more serious and in higher number.

Based on a prior anodization thread, I thought the plates were aluminium? I suppose if they were, they would scratch fairly easily.

It would get badly scratched if it were aluminum. I haven't really closely examined it but I'm 90% sure its stainless.
