Metal slapping sound when moving from a stop
My 2005 manual TSX makes a metallic slapping sound when moving from a standstill in forward or reverse. Its sounds like the ping of a hammer hitting a metal pipe. It only happens once as soon as the car starts moving. Car has 80,000km. Any one experience this? Had the brakes serviced and dealer claims its the front brake pads moving and is normal. Also the rear pads are wearing out twice as fast as the front, is this typical for the TSX?

Rear pads wear way faster than the fronts. As far as that noise is concerned I'm sure the clicking of the brske pads will not a ping link sound. Check all your mounting bolts(subframe) and most importantly your control arm bolts. I've come across a lot of hondas with loose control arm bolts. Acuras are no exception. CHECK THEM NOW!!!!

Is this a subtle yet solid knock/ping? Does it only occur once when you first start driving or after the car sits for a long time or does it happen every time you come to a stop? If it's what I think it is, all TSXs do this. Mine does this. It is the VSA system priming and is nothing to worry about.
