Exclamation Malfunction light

Yesterday the engine's malfunction light popped up, i'm going to bring it back to the dealership later today. Luckily there are no weird sound or anything yet.

my mileage is hitting 48,000 km, it's time for me to change the intake filter, should i drop in the K&N filter? or should i get the stock filter instead?

i'll tell u guys what happened when i have my car back

9 times out of 10 a check engine light is caused by something in the emissions system. Of those 9 times, 8 times are due to a gas cap that isn't tight enough.

10 times out of 10 times it will be emissions related, that's the purpose of the MIL. I do agree with you that EVAP(gas cap) is 85% of all MIL's being triggered in the first place.

The only time its "unsafe" to drive a car when the MIL is on, is when its flashing, you may be doing damage and something is very wrong.

If it is because of the gas cap, tightening it to 3 clicks will not instantly kill the CEL. It takes roughly 48 hours for the effects of the pressure change to take effect enough for the light to turn itself off. If the malfunction is for another reason, the only correction is to cure the malfuntion and then reset the fault code with a PGM tester or the HDS unit.
