Unhappy maintance light??

kinda worried....the last few times i started my car... the maintance required light will flash a few times and then stop. anyone have any idea why? Could it be the CAI(installed about a month ago). my car has 8200K on it and i had the oil changed at 6600 miles.

Did you change your oil at an Acura service dept? If you did not the maintance light just needs to be reset. if you did they probably did not reset it for you so have them reset it. Takes them 30 secs.

Yes i changed it at acura but that was 2400 miles ago and it just started coming on now. And i wasnt on before the oil chnaged. Could it be the whole gas tank thing?

There is nothing wrong with your car. The light starts to come on at around 8000 miles. It's to let you know that your first maintence is due. Since you already had an oil change, you don't have to bring your car in. The instructions to shut your light off are in the owners manual.

Actually, it's not just for the first maintenance. It counts 8000 miles since the last time it was reset, so it will flash again in another 8000 miles.

I was told by my dealer service the light is a "reminder" for a scheduled service. They will reset the light after you get it done.

Turn your car off, but keep the key in at accessories. Hold the trip button down, turn the key to "on" while keeping the trip button down, and hold it for 15-20 seconds.

That ougta do it.

The guy did a freakin' search cause everyone busts his balls about makin a new post and when he replies to a post he finds in a search you bust his balls. What gives. Everyone needs to try remembering when you were a noob and just try being nice to people.

I wish I knew the answer, I'd have replied in your original post 925.

I'm more of a than 925TSX he's got over 200 posts. That being said I've read how to do this by searching for it, but I'm to lazy to bother with it yet to know if it works. I assume it does. It's just a matter of timing and order. The light is just a timer that goes off when you near your 10k incremental service schedules. So if anything it's just annoying to look at. It's like those nag screens you see in shareware until you pay for it. Either you pay for it or you hack it to make it go away.

Now THAT being said I took my car in for my 10k service and they forgot to turn the blasted thing off!

I made a point of doing this today. It worked no problem.
Things to point out:
I put the key in the car I held the reset button and then I turned the key to the position just before ignition. This is the place the key returns to after you start the car. While in that position I still held the reset button. I notice the Maint Req'd light blink once and stay on, but I waited and then sure enough it went off a few seconds later.

Can't we all just get along....!!??

I hate to see fellow A-zine members up in arms over this so here we go.

The manual is in front of me and on page 63 under the Gauges section it says this.

"If this (the 10K service) is done by someone other than your dealer, reset the indicator as follows.

1) Turn off the engine.

2) Press and hold the Select/Reset knob in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II)

3) Hold the knob for about 10 seconds until the indicator resets.

Hope this helps someone out there.
