Loose steering issues

Loose steering issues

so my 06 is showing its age. Been to an indie shop and Honda dealer (no acura nearby). Honda says replace steering rack, indie says need new inner tie rods. I trust indie's word more but I'm not sure. New rack expensive, tie rods 1/2 the cost. Which shall I go with? So during driving whenever I take a turn I feel loose play as I make turns. When driving straight and small turns no issues. My real concern is as I travel highway speeds my wheel loosely goes left and right as I make a turn into a curve. I drive daily on winding roads and this is an annoyance for sure but need to address before it's a safety issue.

Worn tie-rod inner jts are more likely than worn rack/pinion. No way to tell except inspection to confirm looseness of inner tie-rod jt.

Yea both shops had the car up on the lift to inspect so knowing the track record of dealerships I'm a lil hesitant to go with them. Maybe it's indie shop time for this issue. Plus I think the dealer quoted around 1600 for the rack, ouch!
