Exclamation locking gas cap?

even with gas prices falling recently, stealing/syphoning of fuel is still a concern for me. so, i have been looking into locking gas caps and would like to know if anyone out there has one? experiences? pricing?

i would prefer some aftermarket bling kind of like password jdm's (http://store.excelerateperformance.c...p/g-53798.aspx). any other tuner out there producing these locking fuel caps? if so, where can i find one? the generic ones at autozone/napa/etc. just don't do it for me

thanks,
vinny

ps. found those on excelerateperformance.com while shopping for some new goodies ... THANKS JOSH!

mods, i'm pretty sure this is in the right section (trying to find a viable "fix" for recent gas theft crimes). but, if i'm wrong, do what you must ...

also, would i have to get an oem application (like the locking gas cap accessory for the honda element) in order for the cap to work properly? i don't want to have to worry about any CELs/emmissions bs from getting the wrong type of cap

howdy sir.

sorry, you are mistaken.

the product you are looking at can be seen in the center of my picture below:

and here's a better look:

meaning it is NOT a locking gas cap.
it's a locking OIL cap.

not sure if p. jdm even makes locking gas caps.
locking gas caps seem to be a universal fit and are available for
purchase all over the place, every parts store has them.

if you're looking for a JDM locking gas cap, ... I'm not sure where to
find one.

maybe the OEM Element thing is really the best option?

^ you are correct sir, i was mistaken. in any case, IS THERE AN AFTERMARKET LOCKING GAS CAP OUT THERE? the element version would be the way to go if nothing else is available.

The lock type gas cover is rather the old fashion and probably very hard to find one now. Problem is European cars and even between japs makes, have different thread and your best bet is to find one that has a lock and fits on the Honda gas. The alternative is to make a metal ring round the pipe and have a lever clamping down on the stock cover and put a nice lock on it.

When gas was over $4 a gallon I saw a local news report where gas thieves were utilizing cordless drills directly on the gas tank. A locking gas cap wouldn't help in this case. It might influence someone to use Plan B - the drill.

if someone REALLY wants your gas, they are going to take it...just be happy that our gas lids need to be opened from inside the car, unlike some american automobiles.
