Life Expectancy of HID System

The bulbs are rated at an average 2000 hours lifespan.

My driver's side light turned red two weeks ago, then turned 8000k blue, then went out for the most part. By this, I mean that every morning since then, when I light up the lights, it still lights up, but lasts for 30 secs at most.

Car has around 250,000km.

So this is how long they should last (if all is right) in case any of you were wondering.

This is my cue to change both headlights w/ complete assembly. Mine are pretty much sandblasted. I'll probably get my old set polished and resell them somewhere along the line.

shouldnt you also wonder about you relay on the HID system, that might also cause a flicker problem or no electricity to start the ballast up. but since you have so much mileage, maybe it just is your bulbs. i dunno just my 2 cents

It may well be something other than the bulbs, but I'll test it out once the headlights are replaced.
