Leather parking brake boot coming loose

Tonight while wiping down the leather parts, I discovered that the back of the "parking brake lever boot" (leather shroud) is loose, except the rear-most end. It looks like it's normally just pinched tween the center console pieces. So on the sides of it, I can push it down and see into the below-console stuff.

Does anyone have experience dismantling this area, and reseating the brake lever boot? Is it a DIY, or better just letting a dealer fix it? TIA.

There is a clip at the rear of the boot, but this sounds like you are having an issue elsewhere. I would say, let the dealer check it out.

If the dealer won't do anything for you or whatever, then look up the two flavours of short-shifter installation procedures (Comptech and the Neuspeed versions). Getting in there is tricky but do-able, and the instructions are clear. Basically you want to remove the console cover and then flip it upside down on the workbench (w/ a towel to prevent scratching!) and inspect / replace the clip(s) that hold the boot on.

Well, I thought that the entire rear of the boot was "clipped," but last night found that only the very back is clipped. Sounds like it's it's "slipped the clip."

I'll have a dealer look at it some day, my interest in a DIY repair is strictly a hobby. (I like taking things apart.)

It's very easy if you decide to do it yourself.
