Leather Condition
Leather Condition
Just a question for those of you who have had your TSX for a while now. I had a loaner TSX when I brought mine in for repairs yesterday. It had about 17,000 miles on it and black leather. The thing that worried me was that the leather looked like crap. It looked dried out and was starting to get that white shine to it that you see in the leather of older cars sometimes. I was just wondering if this is something I can expect to happen within the next year or if I shouldn't worry about it because it is a loaner.
Hopefully becuase mine has the light grey interior it will hold up a little better.
On a separate note I was pretty happy yesterday because I got two random compliments on my car. One from a guy who was about 40 driving a new TL and another from a 16 year old kid working the drive through at Mc Donalds. Its nice to see that the TSX appeals to such a wide age group.
Actually, I have two people at work who are going to buy TSXs because they like mine so much (not really sure if I like that or not since I kind of like being the only person at work that has one).

I agree with the use of Lexol. I have also found that for stains and dirt, Eagle One makes a clear liquid leather cleaner that is very tough to beat. Just be sure to condition after using the cleaner.

I don't know about Lexol...I've been using Leatherique treatment with excellent results.
With 45 000 Km and small cracks showing up, I did the treatment and I am very pleased with the way the leather came out. It is labor intensive and a bit messy and you need some really warm weather for it to work good but I still feel it is worth the pain.
"no pain...no gain!"

There have been numerous posts on this before, but Lexol works great - I use once a month religiously - leather is good as new.
