Intermittent Vibration

This is a very odd problem. I have a 2004 TSX with 101,000 miles on it. I have a navigation AT model. I have owned it since new and have changed oil religiously.

Recently, the car began to have an intermittent vibration. I can feel it very slightly in both pedals. Some times it is there, sometimes it is not. It almost always can be felt when I first turn the car on in the morning, including when the car is parked. It is most noticable when the car is cold, and can even be felt in the steering wheel. I seem to notice it even more when the car is on an incline, but this could be in my head.

I first thought that it might be a bad spark plug, so I changed those all out. That didn't seem to make a difference. I am thinking that maybe the fuel filter is partially clogged and the car is running too lean. I am also worrying that it might be a transmission problem.

Has anybody ever heard of anything like this? What do you think it could be?

Thanks!

Is the vibration more noticeable when you put it in Drive?

The vibration is definitely there when in Park, but sometimes in the morning, it does seem more severe when in Drive.

Hmmm, of the top of my head, I'm thinking motor mounts could be bad. What's your RPM at when in PARK, and also when in DRIVE (@ 0mph)?

In park, I think that it runs between 1000-1200RPM. When I go into drive and idle, it bounces around between 600-900RPM. Early in the morning, when the engine is cold, is runs at a higher RPM. I don't recall the idle speed varying that much before, which is part of the reason why I changed out the plugs.

One other symptom that I forgot to mention, and this one could be in my head as well, but it seems like I am getting slightly better gas mileage than ever before. I used to get about 29 combined, but am now averaging more than 31 per tank.

Well, can't complain about the improved MPG's!

Though I haven't read of anybody here having engine mount issues, even at 101,000miles, it still could be it. Give it some time here to see if the more experienced gear heads will chime in.

Update

I brought the car into my local acura dealer to have them look over the car before the extended warranty expires.

They told me that the problem is probably just carbon build up in the engine and is probably expected for a car with this many miles. They said that they could do a valve adjustment for around $200 and a fuel injector flush for around $150, but told me that they wouldn't bother if it were their car.
