Unhappy Intermittent total Electrical Failure

I have a problem on a 2006 tsx. All dash lights go black, radio silent, tach drops to 0 and engine dies temporarily- but usually picks up before totally dead. It is powerless for only a fraction of a second. I replaced ignition switch (the electrical part only $45- not the $250 with key) and no problems for 2 months. Now the problem is back. Happened 5 times in a 10 minute span. Once while in park. It's almost like a mis. Battery and alternator were checked at AutoZone to be OK. However, intermittent failure there might not show up on their equipment.

There was an Acura "Service News" article way back when about intermittant high resistance in the negative battery cable. Don't remember specifically if it applied to the '06 models. It did apply to the first couple of years as I recall.

Poltergeist is correct. I had this same thing happen to my 06 TSX two years ago. It was a huge mystery for the dealer, who had it twice for several days, replacing the alternator, the first time...the driver's side airbag and connections, where they thought there was a short, the second time -- to no avail. (Fortunately all under the CPO warranty.)

I was ready to take it back to the dealer again when I found a thread on this forum regarding replacing the battery ground cable. (The short piece that connects the negative post on the battery to the car chassis.) So, I bought one for for less than $10 at the auto parts store and installed it.

That was it! From what I could see, the original cable was slightly corroded and was losing the ground sporadically...(causing a total loss of electrical power.)

It's a quick fix with a $10 part...try it and see what happens.
