Interior Lights Problem
Interior Lights Problem
My interior lights (map/dome) are not working properly. I have LEDs installed in them, and when they are in the off position, they still light up slightly. And my left map light blinks like a strobe light when it is in the "door" setting. Any suggestions guys?

did you get the right size bulb? try putting the stock back ones in and if they work then its obviously your aftermarkets but if the stocks dont work either try looking at a fuse.
Wow that must mean that the interior lights are switched by a transistor or something and the leakage current is enough to make the LED conduct. That's lame as hell. Whatever happened to the good ol days when the dome light was actuated by the switch in the door jam.

You'd think that as expensive as those LED "modules" are, the manufacturers would try to emulate the behavior of a light bulb a little better. That's what scares me about all this aftermarket stuff--often times there seems to be little regard for good engineering practice, but high regard for charging top dollar
Has anyone tried placing a ~1.5k-2.2k ohm resistor across the LEDs to see if that takes care of the leakage current and extinguishes the LEDs properly? That's really all it should take. A little 1/8 watt resistor from Radio Shack could be tack soldered on the ends of the "module".

Cheapest and easiest way is to order LEDs from superbrightleds.com and get the color choice you would like. It around 1.50-2.00 for your dome lights.....preety cheap if you ask me.
PM me if you have question about which bulbs to get.
