Installing Cargo Net

Newbie here

Just got my cargo net installed last week along with an oil change. Took over 4 1/2 hours to get this done at Rosenthal Acura in Gaitherburd MD. He said it would only take about an hour.

How long do you think this should take? I complained and he gave me a free oil change. But he never mentioned i would have to pay $65.08 (labor) to get the cargo net installed untill the work had already been done. I asked if i owed anything after he said the oil change was free.

His reply: "Yeah, the cargo net was a little harder to install than we thought. Its not going to cost much... itll be around 60 something."

Now, i await his survey in the mail. If anyone has got a cargo net installed, how much did you Pay? And how long did it take?

I did mine... took me about 2 hours and 2 beers. Now that I've done it once it would take me less than an hour and no beers.

It took me about a week but a lot of that was waiting for the replacements for the trim fasteners that I broke.

In terms of actual work, it took me longer than an hour but I'm not a trained Acura technician. I was also careful enough to remove the entire trunk lining and drilled the holes in the panels on my workbench.

$65.08 is REALLY not a bad price especially if they didn't break anything and threw in a free oil change!

BTW, I also have the 350z net that actually holds stuff down and that took about a minute using the 4 provided rings......

Same here but maybe 4 or 5 beers and some broken trim fasteners. Those things suck.

thanks for the replies everyone. I guess the price wasnt too bad, but it seems like the service advisor just added the oil change fee onto the labor of the cargo net installation. What really made me mad was wasting 4 1/2 hours of my saturday.

I installed the cargo net myself, it took me about an hour to install. Not too difficult to install.

Did mine in about an hour. No beer, but one can of Mountain Dew was needed. Labor cost = $0.

Bob Shiftright,
Where did you get the net that was shown in your posting, the 350z net. I bought one of the hamock nets for the TSX and looked at and decided not to install it. It won't hold anything down which is primary purpose of a net. There was a factory installed in my 02 CL which was great. Why didn't the designers think to put one in the TSX. Would cost much to do it in the factory and would be soooo nice to have.
Thanks.

$30.59 from http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...ode=350Z-TRNET and a nice friendly man or woman dressed in a brown uniform brings it right to your door.

Not my idea BTW, I got it from this thread: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...light=350z+net The Nissan net is not a perfect fit but it makes more sense than the one that Acura sells plus it's a lot easier to install!

Bob,

Do you have pics of the 350Z cargo net installed? I am debating if I want that one or the acura one.

Sorry, no digital camera!

But from the Nissan website it just hooks into the 4 available trunk hooks and looks pretty much like the installation on the 350z convertible:

I ordered the coupe net. The convertible's net might fit better. Or might not.

Any pics of the 350Z Coupe Trunk Convenience Net

I am looking into installing a net and this looks like the way to go, easy install, etc...... Does anyone know the final word on whether the Convertible or coupe version fits best?

Any actual pics in the TSX encouraged....
