When I first bought my car (08 Navi), the MID defaulted to being on when the car started, then for the last 6 months it did not turn on with the car, unless I pressed the steering wheel button. Suddenly, it's coming on with the car again. Is there a setting, or is my car acting strangely?

my car is messed up that way, too. Maybe it is possessed

 

If you open a door or do any other action to cause the top center of the display to light, it will go back to the normal lit display after the door is closed or the trunk lid is closed, or whatever ...
If you do nothing, the top center will not light until you select the display on the steering wheel button.
I'd rather have the system designed to always default to the last time you set it, but some gooferanus in Japan decided the way it is.
