If the car doesn't start..

If the car doesn't start properly (meaning it takes two-three attempts) even when the batteries are fresh and the alternators are perfect, what are the other indications of the malfunction? Which parts are most commonly involved?

Of course the mileage the car has is important, but anything else that could be the heavy factor?

Thanks in advanced.

So do you actually hear the starter motor turning the engine over?

Thats weird for a clutch. I know some autos wont start unless your foot is on the brake, and in Park.

Could it be related to the anti-theft key security code check? Haven't happened to me on the TSX (nor any of the 3 other Acura's I have had), but I can recall similar thing happened on my '98 Prelude several times. I remember the only thing "happening" was the green key-like icon flashing when I turned the key and usually I pulled the key out and put back in and tried again then it would start.

I love it when someone creates a thread, gives vague information, then leaves for a while to let us figure out what the hell he's talking about

Good point, but I wonder if he's even talking about a TSX

i said i took my foot off the clutch and then went to start it again....and you said you've never heard of that with a MT...and i asked "heard of what?" and you still never responded.

did you mean that you've never heard of someone with a MT not being able to start their car?

i really don't understand what you were trying to say.

Thanks in advanced.
How do you know everything is perfect? Should bring it back to the dealer and have them do a test on your battery, alternator, and starter than look at the print out to see if anything is failing.

I'm guessing he's referring to an older car...

but the key question is, does the car crank at all when you try to start it?

If it doesn't, it's probably some anti-theft device problem, or probably the clutch sensor or something...

If it does and the battery/atlernator is good, try giving it some gas when you try to start.... if it does, could be dirty intake, fuel injector, or IAC.... If it doesn't then I dunno....maybe some problem in the electrical system.
