Unhappy ... i got into a wreck.

long story short.
was merging off one ramp onto another.. i was going about 45 or so.. on the way to pick up my gf for our 1 year anniversary.. im about a mile away from her... the truck in front of me made a complete stop.. or as he puts it "he slammed all the way down on the brakes.." sad but i guess true for me i guess maybe i hit the brakes as hard as i could.. i didnt slide. but i simply was just too close.. b/c there was so much traffic around and i was trying to merge onto the new ramp.. 75N
looks like im shopping for maybe a cf hood now for a 2006.. and maybe a mugen kit??? only thing tho .. i like the tsx looking classy. so i really would prefer to keep the grill.. so im thinking i may just get a new bumper and get the oem kit like i wanted.. with the insurance money they're gonna give to fix..
the truck had a hitch.. and he was stuck on my bumper support.. he was peeling out and still couldn't get off my car.. ha. =/

anyhow here are the pix.. i'm in a rush right now but i'll retouch up this story later on with more details...

any advice on where to get some parts? and what do yall think oem kit / euro / mugen ??? [don't forget its an 06]

^.. and we begin. as you can see there is some antifreezer along with some battery acid? =x

his hitch was caught on my bumper reinforcement.. good to see the hood crumpled instead of flew off.

no comment

grill flew right off bc the truck was high

^.. all i saw on the way to the my friends body shop..

^theres my dad.. he was pretty angry at first. but just glad that i was ok

theres my battery above the fusebox =/

ok so post back.. no airbags deployed surprisingly.. im fine tho. seatbelt didnt even hurt me at all. my glasses flew off my face tho. and at the same time my radar flew off the windshield..

i'll be down for a week or maybe two...

Airbags didn't deploy? I guess because the front bumper didn't crumple inward.

Shit!
Feel your pain, but you really should drive with greater distance between you and another vehicle - especially taller ones you can't see through. With another car in front you may have seen beyond him and braked earlier.
At least you're in one piece and hopefully you've learned a valuable (but expensive) lesson.
Don't know about $10K, but easily $6K, especially with pulling the front of the chassis into shape again.

yupp.... they're going to replace that whole radiator support + the part above the lights.. so no pulling there.. theres no damage to the frame.. should be an easy fix. im just waiting for the insurance to go look at it.
then looks like im leaning towards going with stock bumper again then either euro lip if i can readily get it.. or aspec kit =).

i'm just really glad my airbags didnt deploy.. i may try to get a silver carbon fiberhood from vis if possible..

Wow, good thing ur all right. Looks like my accord when I rear ended a truck. Except mine wasn't as bad. I say $5K worth of damages, no more than $7K.

Anyway, I'm shoping for a kit too. I really like the new Euro R for our model, but absolutely love the Mugen lip kit for the 04-05 model. Still thinking about it.

Does anybody know where I can find the Euro R lip kit for 06-07 model's? It's had to find.

You seriously think that you'll have that back in a week or two? You have a better chance of hitting the lottery.

Good luck with the repairs, glad to see you're okay!

damn that looks bad. if you are indeed looking for a new classy looking front end you should pick up the 06 jdm headlights from the other board.. and mabe a kenstyle bumper since ur bumper is wrecked anyways. try the spoon or j's racing CF hood, pricey but it's prob the only CF hoods that won't make ur ride look ricey.

Are you under your parents insurance? I can see why your dad would be mad at first. Luckily you aren't hurt. I hope you take responsibility for this and pay your part for the insurance premium, if you are indeed under your 'rents policy.

Gone for a week or two???? Don't think so, unless the body shop guys are you good friends I think you will be out for closer to a month. I have had two accidents, one a deer jumped out and maimed the side of my car ($6000) and light damage to a 98 Jetta (hood and grille) with airbag deployment. Both I was out for 3 plus weeks.

im thinkin 2-3wks.. they're just waiting for me to get the parts that i would like to special order.. ya know silver cf hood. and jdm headlights..

i was thikning about getting a mugen kit or kenstyle.. but im leaning more towards

stock bumper
with the aspec kit
then jdm headlights =) and maybe a silver cf hood.

as long as aftermarket parts cost as much or less than oem, insurance would be happy to replace your broken parts with them - they save money. all the body components (and a koyo radiator) on my civic came courtesy of an accident

You're a smart kid, already proved that through doing the navi conversion yourself. You learn from these kinds of mistakes But technically, it's not all your fault. You live and learn, I'm glad you're not hurt at all. Time for a new kit and hood

dont trade SIDES!.. lmao haha u were the most supportive commen..
lol jk
ya i guess i was a little tooo close.. but there was a lot of traffic on my left side flowing on 35N.. while i was merging on from 30E...[with alot of traffic myself..] there are also other mergers coming on from i guess the rd? so i was trying not to let anyone try and cut me off. and we were merging onto the next freeway 45E..
while merging is when i had my wreck.. because the asshole in front of me decided to SLAM on his brakes.. which he even admitted to...
sigh the whole thing is a disaster
but i've already ordered my new headlights from another forum. =)
2006 JDM headlights with halos and painted ssm to match my asm
now i think im just gonna stick with all oem after that...

b/c oem hood is safer than a cf hood? and i dont think i will be able to get a silver one.. VIS hasn't even responded to my email / call.

and in terms of kits.. looks like im just gonna get the stock bumper and get the aspec kit

Smile

---------------update------------------
my dad actually went to the shop and took my car.. he figured we're gonna save a ton of money since we can fix it ourselves... so now im just in search of a few parts.. looking for cheap places to get these/alternatives that loook nice

plastic valve cover

dent in my k&n.. think i could still get this to work? the dent seems to be where the sensor goes =/

front bumper/hood/reinforcement bar/driver's fender

the wiring thats severed...

adjuster cracked my windshield.. =(

the fuse box seems to be damaged.. ?

that seems to be all for now.

the whole radiator support will be replaced. so there shouldn't be too much that has to be pulled. i'm glad my dad took the car back!. so now i can work some more on my baby. =)
plz lmk if you know where i can find these parts!!

So your Dad's good at welding and paint work?......I'd leave this to professionals myself but more power to ya.

BTW in the pic it looks a bit like the left framerail is bent down.

Damaged wiring + damaged fuse box = TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS. Great potential for problems in the future with that damage, man.

I'd seriously consider getting insurance to pay a shop to repair everything (you supply some aftermarket parts that you want, at any cost above that of the replacement OEM part being from your wallet). Why? Because at least you'll have warranty on the repairs (often lifetime with most insurance companies if you go to any approved repair shop).

Since it's a newer car, I'd definitely go this route rather than save a few bucks now, fix it yourself, and possibly be screwed six ways from sunday later down the road.
