hole drilled into bumper

A screw was used to fix my front license plate holder to my front bumper as I found out today when I tried to take it off to wax the front... kinda sucks =( Car looks so nice with the front license plate off, and apparently in TX the cops don't go after people so much for this... oh well... all the more reason to get that phase bumper....

Yui,
TX law DOES require you to have a front plate - no need to cause an officer to pull you over for a traffic check. I have been stopped before for no front plate.

Yell at the dealer you bought it from. The standard TSX front bracket requries NO SCREW IN BUMPER. They just "damaged" it.

There are two bolts underneath the bumper lip in the lower grill just for this purpose.

Miner, was that with the TSX tho? Cause I read that some of the newer cars don't even have front license plate holders, as some states don't require them any more... still, the hole in the bumper worries me... you think I should talk to my dealership? It's been like over 5 months since I bought the car already... something like this shoulda been taken care of way early on... blah... stupid me for not noticing...

No, I was driving my '99 Prelude - same type of plate holder that bolts UNDER the bumper. You definitely should not have a screw hole in your bumper. Take it back to your dealer & POLITELY ask them to fix.

That's incorrect. It requires one small hole to be drilled, it can't be seen though. I think it varies by dealer though...

I took my front bracket off before I Zaino'd it for the first time. NO screw at all. Two bolts underneath the from air dam and that's it.

I've never had a Honda that required that.

I was wrong in saying that it required it. It doesn't exactly need it, but Honda gives the screw to the dealer. There's a little spot in in the holder for the screw. I know that my dealer installs the screws on all of the Acura they recieve.

Same here, when I removed my bracket, there were 2 bolts holding it to the car, underneath the bumper. Any dealer with common sense wouldn't put the screws into the bumper.

It's a good thing the bumper's plastic, or you'd get rust in there.

At least Acura does the mounting more tastefully than some. My mom's MPV has two ugly threaded things in the bumper...

I find it kinda silly that Acura would give the dealerships a screw to attach the plate assembly....you open up the possibility that the paint could start flaking around where the screw has punctured the bumper..... weird.

Yui, I'd take it back and see if they can fix that hole...just tell them that you don't care that Acura gave them a screw to hold on the assembly....you don't want them punching any holes in the car that didn't come *with* the car!
