I have a 04 TSX with about 69,XXX miles on.

Symptoms:

At Low Speed: High pitch “Whining” noise with engine rev somewhere in the front, seems to get worse when you turn (in a parking lot), audible inside the car even when standing still.

At High Speed: “Whining” is less audible, probably due to road noise but still exist. Step-on-off and gas pedal will make it easier to identify the noise.

On 10/09/07 (TODAY!) on my way home, BRAKE, ABS, VSA, AIR BAG, and ! (in a triangle) lights came on all at once and stayed on for a while. Then, BRAKE light and AIR BAG flicker on and off. Then, other lights went on and off. Eventually non-of them showed up.

Radio and CD-players: While the abovementioned lights were on and off, the radio reception and CD-players also malfunctioned intermittently. The AC, the power window, and the power roof window took longer time to slide.


Does any of this sound familiar? I have been noticing the "whining" for a while but didn't really think much of it until it got louder recently. I'm lost. Any help would be great. TIA

 

My first guess would be alternator. The TSX has a weak battery to begin with. As batteries loose capacity and volts diminsh the ECM will 'turn off' unneccessary items and put car into limp mode so you can get to your destination. Have a load test done on your battery and test the altenator.

 

That sounds scary

I'd take it to the dealer right away and ask for a loaner while they look at it.

 

 

That happen to me. It was the battery.
