Height difference

Hello everyone,
I recently got some wheels put on my car and found that there is a height difference from the left side to the right. I measured the distance from the top of the tyre to the guard above it on a flat surface and found, the left front was 1cm higher than the right front, and the left back was .5cm higher than the right back. I have had wheel balance and aligment done after i put the wheels on. I havnt touched my spring setup.
Is there a problem somewere with the car? A friend told me that this is how the car has been made and it cannot be changed, as each type of car (eg honda TSX, honda civic, bmw etc) have been made in a way that they each sit different. Eg ALL tsx will have a 1cm hieght difference from left to right. And on a BMW they mite have a 1cm height differnce from right to left.

So what do you guys think?
Are there any hieght difference on ur car from side to side?

Your being extremely paranoid!! Do you know how little 1cm and .5 cm are??....lol (i know you do cause you measured them but still) That is like 3/8" and 3/16" which is darn hard to even see! You have to remember too, the motor is not directly in the center of the car, maybe when you sit down in the car it will balance out....lol. I would not be concered about this at all...plus you had the alignment.

All of the australian version of the TSX here are lower by 1cm on the front driver's corner. It's probably corner balanced from factory through the use of different length springs.

yep, when designing a car they even figure out the best place for the battery to go, so the car is balanced to act as they want it to act, even supension is a part of the balancing progress. that's the same reason why its mostly said to have it balanced after replacing your wheels. it's just the weight distribution that has to evened.

Actually, on the TSX, part of the reason is due to the slightly different spring rates between the left and right front springs and I think there are slightly different damper tunings as well. This is because most of the cars weight, with all of the steering equipment, sits on the left side of the car. Inevitably, without a driver in the car, you will see slightly different heights left to right.

Just thinking out loud here, but wouldn't that make sense to compensate for the driver? I'm guessing your weren't measuring the car height with somebody sitting in the driver's seat

No, for corner balancing, you want the corner with the most weight to have shorter suspension so that the opposite corner will bear more of the weight.
