Headunit locked out

Hello everyone, i origionally made this post on but then found this site which clearly has alot more active memebers so it would probably get answered sooner. Heres the post, thanks

A friend of mine went on a trip for 11 days and had her '06 tsx parked at the airport, up here in canada it gets cold so it was dead when she got back and upon starting it asked her to type in the code to unlock her stereo, its the non nav version.

She didnt know what that was so she started pressing buttons and not its permenantly locked out. We have the code now what i explained to her what it actually is but still unsure as to how to get back to the option of putting it in to unlock it.

I found something on the net with pressing 1 and power but it plays for about 2 minutes and then locks out again.

I know acura could probably fix it and charge a hour or 2 worth of labor for pressing a couple buttons so figured i'd try other means before going to them.

Thanks alot for any help

I would just unplug the battery. That should reset the radio again. I just installed my new Optima battery and it asked me for the code and it worked like a charm. BTW, welcome to the forum

She should have the code in her paperwork from purchasing the car, or she can call the dealer and get the code from them.

This is from the 04 Owner's Manual: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...404O00148B.pdf

Follow the above procedure to enter the code. If she unsuccessfully tried 10 times then a 1 hour lock-out took place. Just wait the 1 hour and try again.

Or you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes and try again.
