Hands Free Sound Quality

I just bought an 06 TSX this past Tuesday and for the most part, I am loving it. The only issue is my friends/family complaining they can barely hear me when I call them on the hands free. I went to acura's hands free website and it told me to adjust the ac vents to make sure they aren't blowing towards the mic. SO I did this but people are still complaining they cant hear me. I can hear them fine. Anyone else have this issue? My TSX is certified so the dealer would fix it if it was in fact broken, but before I call them, I want to be sure it's not just how it is. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I've heard this complaint. The mic, if you haven't seen in the OM, is the little thing up by the overhead lights and HomeLink.

I've found that callers claim that they can't hear me intermittently when I'm driving, clearly an effect of driving. Also, ambient road noise from the moonroof (closed) can effect sound. Try this make a call to someone from your phone at a stop. Now power up the car, close the moonroof shade, turn OFF the AC, and make a call to the same person with HFL. Talk in a normal tone of voice (NOT YELLING, though I know it's tempting talking into an overhead mic). See if they can hear you.

Now turn on the AC. Any difference?

Thinks you can do while driving and talking: turn the AC fan down (from AUTO) ... hit the MODE switch so that the AC is DEF/FOOT or just FOOT ... slow down (ambient road noise increases from 55 mph).

What volume do you have the HFL at? I usually leave it at 12 (to make the beeps not too loud), then set it up 15-19 when talking. Hope this all helps....

I tried the AC thing this weekend and it worked a little better. The person who cant hear me the most is my Mom but she's 60ish and practically def so not so bad. Sunday she asked me if I was talking on a "car phone." I got a big kick out of that one. Anyway, thanks so much for the advice!

Glad something I coughed up helped.

Your Mom probably could have some selective hearing loss, so some types of radio/telephone communication may be hard for her to decipher which the rest of us, with more frequencies to correlate, find easier. Just a WAG.

I remember a friend of mine having a "car phone" installed in his Maxima, circa 1992(?). We've come a long way ... we now get it with free phones and nicely appointed cars.
