Groaning noise above 30mph
So I've had this groaning noise on my car which is getting louder and more consistent. It starts once the car is at 30mph, and then the noise varies with vehicle speed (engine speed and gear has no effect). The sound resembles a loud bearing noise.
In the past few months, the center carrier bearing (but not the center shaft itself), the left and right wheel bearings, and the right axle has been replaced, but the noise is clearly still there. All these things were replaced mostly due to mis-diagnosis by the shop, but I guess at 70k miles it doesn't hurt to have the bearings replaced anyhow. So at this point the shop is saying it's my transmission (5AT) making the noise.
Any ideas what this noise could be? Transmission? Differential? Lately I've also notice a very slight vibration when the car is at highway speed. I remember a while ago ppl were having problems with the center shaft. Could that possibly be making the noise? The shop only replaced the carrier bearing on the center shaft but not the shaft itself.
The noise is making me paranoid when driving the car, and driving me nuts

Sounds like a wheel bearing is going bad. If it gets louder as you go faster that is a good indication. If you had bad luck with an independent shop it may be best to take it to a good dealer.
