Every morning when i leave my house, i back out of the driveway, and as im driving away the car makes a dull thud. It sounds like its comming from the front, infront of my feet somewhere. Its as im turning to head down the road. It seems like its a stearing issue. Its hard to describe the sound, but today it was more of a grinding that a thud. My car is only a couple of months old, i have about 3500KM on it. I have never noticed the car make any sounds other than when i first start out in the morning. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? I would take it to the dealer, but then they would have to keep the car overnight, andi would be without my car for at least a day. Thanks

 

You know, I noticed the same thing the other day on mine, and I have just over 1400 miles on my '06.

It doesn't happen all the time though. Just specifically when I'm backing out to the left, and then turn right to complete the turn out of the driveway. It's exactly as you described...a dull thud, and I can definitely feel it on the steering wheel when it does it.

I'm going to mention it to the dealer soon...see what they say.

thats what that noise is....i've heard many times too in the same instances as described. Always felt it as benign though. Good to know the real reason.
