Hi Guys
I have a question, i just bought my new Acura TSX 3 weeks ago and i have already gone 1200 miles on it. The first time i brought it in from the dealership my car went 455 miles till the indicator showed Fuel Low. I filled with Chevron premium and it went 370 miles and i refilled again yest. it only went 380 miles till the fuel indicator came up. The Range calculator said it can go 30 more miles, my question is my Avg Miles per Hour was 27 if thats the case according to calcuation i should have gone atleast 400 miles. 27 * 15 gallons = 405. I am assuming the Indicator comes up when there is 2 gallons left or so. I filled up again and it took 13.22 gallons. I know the Range thing is never perfect but according the Avg. Miles pe Hr. Speed i should be able to calculate how many miles i can go and i never go that much. Also today i drove to work 45 miles and my Gas needle already dropped down to less than 3/4 of a tank...my gas needle is something i am concerned about. Any suggesstions or comments?

I think your gauge is fine.
My gauge has actually been getting less accurate as time goes on. Now it comes on with 1/3 of the tank left...

2004 Models with Navi have an adjustment in the Navi Settings that can adjust miles to Empty and this may have an indirect effect on the gauge.Originally Posted by schandhok

My 2004 normally starts lighting up with about 50 miles to empty.
Since you have a 2006 and I believe the MPG stuff has been moved to the MID, I'm not sure I can tell you what settings to adjust. You'll have to find someone who has a 2006 Shop Guide.

i believe the indicator is directly linked to the physical position of the needle...
which isn't linked to your gas mileage or anything else like that...
I usually have about 10L left in the tank (4 gallons approx??, my conversions aren't that good sorry) when i fill up and the light is on...
if i fill up and the range is 0 i usually have about 7 litres left... enough for a good 50K at least...
it's a 'safety' precaution so dumbasses don't get stranded when they think they can make it...

If I fill up when the light turns on, I can stuff 12 gallons in the 17 gallon tank. FYI, it is never good to go until the tank is just about empty. The fuel cools the pump.
These gauges are not linear, so even though looks like 1/2 a tank, it really isn't. I can go about 80-100 miles more when the light comes on. Scares the shyt out of me to do it, but I had no choice once. Even then, I still only stuffed another 16 gallons in the tank.

Hi Guys
thanks for all your replies. Well seems like everyone has had different and interesting experiences. When i see the Fuel Low light ON...it usually says to me that the range thing calculates i can only go 30 miles more. So whats the solution for the needle? I was told by acura that when i bring the car in for 1st oil change or service they can take a look. I dont care if the range and gauge is messed up but the Average Miles per Gallon speed 26 should not be incorrect i think and if i know that knowing the gas tank size i can calculate how much i should be able to go...which i dont maybe coz i never go past the Few Low Indicator.....
Apart from that my car seems to be running fine..and the Ipod integration seems to be good too. By the way i just got an aftermarket NAV the Pioneer AVIC-D2...any suggesstions whom should i take it to for installation? Best Buy? Car Toys? or try it myself?
