Fuel light flashing.

Hey guys. When I started my car up today, the fuel light was flashing and the fuel gauge was stuck at E. This came as a surprise because I just put gas in the car yesterday. I checked the fuses under the dash and they seem to be alright. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, then please help me out. Thanks in advance.

Did you start your car on an incline? Take it to a flat piece of road and restart it. That's the only time something like that has happened to me. Unless someone siphoned your gasoline

I just started the car in my garage. It is on a flat piece of ground. It didn't help. I did get into the diagnostic mode and check the trip information and it displays everything. When I check the range in normal navi mode then it doesn't show anything.

Nope. No gas leaks as far as I know. I've been watching the trip info (calculated range, gas consumed) and it's normal.

I don't think that's related though. The recall is for a fuel pump relay (on the fuse box) which causes the engine to stall. His problem is not registering the correct fuel level which is a different component.

Look at item #37 below (fuel pump assembly) and note the bottom where a square component (float) that is connected to the fuel pump via a rod. That is the fuel gauge sending unit. It could be defective not sending the correct signal. The dealer will have to replace the sending unit or the fuel pump assembly.

Perhaps resetting everything by disconnecting your battery and re-connecting.......

So it finally happened. The car won't start at all. The fuel pump is bad.

Are you 100% sure there is gas in the tank? You mentioned filling gas recently, but is it possible someone stole gas from your tank? If you shake the car a little, can you hear gas inside the tank? An empty gas gauge + no starting usually means no gas...

How do you steal gas from someone when the gas door is locked?

If it was the fuel pump, wouldn't it still be under the recall and thus repaired free of charge by Acura?

it's not locked. it's just a little pull tab that releases the door when you push the lever inside. you can easily pry the gas door open with a small screw driver.

I think the recall was for 05-06 models, and according to his name, he has an 04. Though he might have an argument still...

The recall is for a fuel pump "relay" located under the dash, not the actual fuel pump in the gas tank. However, I would think the warranty should cover that if the car is still within the warranty period.
