Front Sound when not braking

Greetings!!

I heard this rumbling sound when I'am at rough surfaces and notice that when I pass again on the same surface and press the brakes, there is no sound.

My brake pas are Hawk HPS and brembo rotos. When I install the pads I did not put the metal shims that where on the original pads. Do I need to put them on to eliminate the sound ? or do I need to apply a special kind of brake noise compound before mounting?

Please help

Thanks to all

Yes, you should've reused the shims. There is also a compound on them, but I didn't put anymore on b/c there was a substantial amount already.

The lube is molykote M55, IIRC. LubroMoly makes a good copper/moly anti-sieze that works well. BMW also sells a good brake quiet compound that costs a small fortune - can't remember the name.
