Thumbs up front end clunk found and fixed

My 05 tsx has 163k miles on it. Around 105k miles I noticed a clunk when turning full lock and over bumps. I searched and found to check endlinkes, sway bar bushings, compliance bushings, etc. The only thing i could find was cracks in my complience bushings. I didn't change them because other people changednthem and still had the clunk. So at 158k miles the clunk got louder and you could really feel it. Any time from a stop light it would clunk making turns it would clunk etc. I checks the compliance bushings again and the drivers side was torn and chunks missing and the passenger side had tears also. I then checked motor mounts and found my front one was torn and oil gone. I bought new lca's from carquest since they already had bushings in them(and I work there so paid about $50 per side).I then went to Honda and got a front engine mount(OEM is a must since aftermarket may have fluidin it or not but also vibrates a lof more). After I replaced the LCA,s and front engine mount the clunk is gone and the car drives great again. I didn't want to throw parts at it and not fix the probelm. But its fixed now. Most acuras have the compliance bushing problem and engine mounts going bad early.

P.s. replacing the engine mount isn't hard at all. You can get to all the nuts but the left back corner bolt(looking at the engine) if you remove the bottom aero cover you can get a ratchet on that bolt no problem.

If anyone would jump in and state if they have a front end clunk and if they threw parts at it please post. I am also wondering if the front engine mount goes bad because of the vacuum line that is a ''dual mode'' mount meaning its soft at idle and firms up at a higher speed. Could it be that during take off the mount is to soft and that's why there more pron to failure?

Failure of the vacuum actuated motor mount is a common problem on many Honda/Acura products since early 90's. Apparently, the softened the mount to reduce engine vibration feedback to the driver and compromised the longevity of the mount.

Driver hard acceleration frequency may also be a factor. I'm at 125K on my 06 TSX w/ no problems so far.

good luck
